Well, here we go into my favorite season of the year! SO MUCH has been going on, and I'm thrilled to share it. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN makes A SPLASH! Well, the audiences and critics alike couldn't get enough of Singin' in the Rain at the Reagle Music Theatre - and neither could I! This show is one of the classics, the true gems, and boy did I have the time of my life as Lina Lamont. It was a privilege and pleasure to work with the brilliant Kirby Ward, our incomparable director, as well as a wonderful cast and crew.. What did the critics have to say? "But perhaps the most difficult and demanding role in the show... [is] that of Lamont, the silent movie star with the determinedly off-key speaking and singing voice whose career is threatened by the emergence of 'the talkies.' It requires acting chops, strong comedic timing, concentration in staying off-key, and the ability to stay in character while putting over a number such as 'What’s Wrong With Me?' and Hughes is spot-on in her performance." Rich Fahey, On Boston Stages "Willing to do anything for a laugh, Noreen Hughes portrays blond celebrity bombshell Lina Lamont. She is gawky, shrill, and cunning, her lanky body, stature, and wild eyes make for a perfect Lina as she bellows out an added song not included in the film version, ‘What’s Wrong With Me.’" Jeanne Denizard, Boston Performing Arts Examiner (five stars!) "Hughes got plenty of laughs as the screechy Lina." Joel Brown, The Boston Globe "Hughes’ Lina Lamont is not someone with whom you want a romance, but Hughes brings much humor and credibility to the self-interested and imposing villainess. With legs for days, Hughes could easily just be a pretty face, but she is willing to give her Lina so many dislikeable qualities that the character becomes a humorously conflicting character. Her “What’s Wrong With Me?” is a star-turn of purposely screeching vocals juxtaposed with her gorgeous body and movements." Brian Balduzzi, My Entertainment World TRISTAN POPE PHOTOGRAPHY I just had the pleasure and privilege of working with brilliant dance and fashion photographer Tristan Pope on a beautiful video, "Dancers of New York." Featuring a myriad of NYC dancers and styles, this video was shot entirely using apps and features of the new iPhone 6. The full YouTube page details Tristan's approach and techniques, for anyone interested. Enjoy! UP NEXT: ENRON Next up, I'll be part of the mad ensemble of ENRON at the Garage Theatre Group in Teaneck, NJ. Rehearsals start tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing this neat play on its feet! Until next time, I wish you warm apple ciders, cozy sweaters, and crunchy leaves under your feet...!
